Fed: Greens say new Labor refugee policy not good enough

The Australian Greens say Labor's revamped asylum-seeker policy falls short of itshumanitarian ideals and is inspired by One Nation.

Labor MPs and senators are to discuss details of the new policy this morning, withdebate expected over the party's continued support of mandatory detention capped at 90days.

Other aspects include the introduction of a United States-style green card system forcatching foreigners working illegally and removing children from immigration detentioncentres.

Greens senator BOB BROWN says Labor isn't moving anywhere near where it should on refugee policy.

Opposition Leader SIMON CREAN has set a deadline of Thursday for Labor members to backthe new policy.
